So i have been doing alot of live streaming on YTG with my channel and its been fun and it brought in some growth which is always nice to see. But as a result, my channel page started to be overflowed with livestreaming content only that were 2 and more hours long. I soon realized that no one will put the time into watching a whole stream after its been done so i started breaking down those streams and uploading smaller highlights, thinking people will watch them more. It didnt happen, i would get 2-3 views on each and thats it :( So i started to get a bit discouraged on the whole streaming thing as of late.

Bottom line, i have decided to switch focus of my channel from making streams and let's plays of new singleplayer games, something i have been doing almost exclusively for the last two years, to making MMO only related content, which was the initial content that i started my channel with 3 years or so ago. Bassically triying to go back to my roots if you will. I used to have played alot of MMORPG games, such as SWTOR, WoW and few others but then stoped in favor of singleplayers.
I used to did MMO related gaming news, first looks, previews, raid boss strategies and such witch was mostly well recieved back in the day and still to this day when i release a new MMO related video amongst all singleplayers i have been doing lately, that MMO video will usually stick out from the crowd and bring in much more views.

I do realize that some of my newer viewers, mostly those that came from streams, will probably not be fond of the idea, in fact i have seen quite a dip in my subs ever since i announced my plan to shift my focus to MMO's.

So my question is, would it be a good idea for me to switch back my focus to MMO content, or stick with singleplayers? What would be better for my channel in the long run? I do like the idea of veriety of content that can potentially be made with MMO focused channel

Age old question it seems like :D

I'm totally all about the potential for variety, spice of life and all that. My thing is I get bored with doing just one game, but then I get into trouble with doing a different game each day of the week and I'm nowhere NEAR an expert at scheduling and managing my time.

I think it's a different take when it comes to viewers. Generally speaking the audience is going to determine what they like and what they don't like from your channel and, ultimately, you could decide where to go from there. However, from experience I can tell you, that pandering to that is ultimately going to make the whole Youtube "experience," dull, so dull that you might just call it quits..., two times..., as I did :D

In this instance, my friend, my advice (what little weight it might carry): Do what you enjoy. You'll always have someone watching.

I would combine it by doing both!

I am also someone who does MMO's like Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV. Besides that i play a wide variety of Singleplayer and Multiplayer.

That said i also live stream my content leaving between 1H / 3H video's in wich you may think people don't watch but i have seen the opposite! You first get views for the stream itself and afterwards optional views for the video wich says it was a livestream. Due to that the notification is in the description the video was live streamed gives people a different point of view on it ;)

You can always make prerecording of lets play, and post them every week. Use the scheduled youtube videos feature , that way you can play singleplayer games as letsplay and post them later in the week, and then have your MMO games that the old views wanna see.

So as it runs maybe you are looking for something new... Form up a guild in an MMO, find a streamer or three, both stream adventuring together, and then display the normal edited content, but make a version that is both streams edited together to take advantage of the best POV for the boss kill, or other spectacular event, and by switching characters and building interest. I have a project called "We guildies play" which is based off of that concept, sadly it is hard to find streamers who can allow the focus to be on anyone but them. I think they may be rarer than unicorns, but heck it is hard to negotiate when you end up in and out of the hospital for months on end. Well either way we must overcome the challenges facing us. #overcome
