    Hey MGN folks!

just a quick poll and thread to ask what peoples thoughts are about facecam on Twitch specifically. I wont lie I hate seeing myself, in a mirror or pictures or whatever (not very photogenic), so i kinda hate the idea of my face being on stream.

however do you guys think having facecam brings some humanity and personality to the stream? when playing paragon someone in my chat mentioned having one because during times of extreme focus i would go quiet and this person mentioned having a facecam would allow people to see my reactions and so have a kind of body language commentary instead of speech.

TL;DR I can see both sides to the argument. My question kinda is, Is a facecam on a livestreaming essential to grow an audience or to gain viewers, in your opinion?

If you answer the poll it would also be nice to get some written feedback, e.g. why you think it is/isn't essential?

    thanks guys!
    Zypher out!

I can't really answer your poll, on one hand it's not essential, but on the other hand it will help you better connect with your audience..

I think that it all depends on the person that is streaming. For some people they are able to get the viewers to like them for just their personality and the way they word things however this takes more talent and not everyone has it. But, from what I have seen on twitch people who have a cam on tend to get more people to stay in their stream.

What you can do though is if you don't like to use facecam work on making yourself more fun to hear and work on what you can say this will get people to listen to you more and not just leave.

So if you want my opinion do what you find you enjoy more and feel better doing remember this is all about having fun so if you are not having fun you should stop how you are doing it.

I was streaming with and without it, people tend to stay a bit longer if you have a cam because they are interested in your reactions, but if you are a good commentator you can go without one. I have seen many sucessful channels that stream without cam and they are doing good. IT all depends on each person i guess

In my opinion it is optional. Sometimes i make use it and others times i don't. Depends on if i feel like using it :p

That said it may give better interaction with your viewers.

As everyone else is saying. It depends on the person. I personally don't use it and never will. I know it's recommended to use one if you do horror games so viewers can see your reaction. Other than that, do it if you wanna;)

I think it all depends on what your livestreaming. If your just livestreaming you playing video games, it isn't essential, although, it seems as if people with facecam get more viewers because it helps them connect with there audience better and they can see your reaction. If your a gaming talk show or some other type of creative stuff, then yes, I think it would help alot.

No it is not not unless fans keep begging you to i suggest using webcam in horror games or when your trying to show your reactions if it mc ark or ect games with not alot of face reaction then don't cause sometimes i watch twitch streams and honestly don't care about seeing there cam to me it gets in the way at times but there are times like horror games to where i like to see them jump for the lolz

I dont think a facecam is essential but it helps... Plus some subs like to see who is actually playing. Take for example a friend of mine playing To the Moon... When the emotional scene happened he sat there crying and silent for a good 5 mins which connected for me the game, person, and me veiwing all together for an emotional trip.... I guess you could say it humanized the guy and made for an intense session...

Like they said above, it depends on the contents you're streaming. If it's a horror game then I highly suggest you activate it while streaming. 99% of people watch both the game and your cam to see your reactions.

I dont really think it is at all, for me its all about the personality of the person behind the videos or streams.
