This has really bugging me off as of lately. I am well aware of gaming restrictions as what it comes to big gaming companies. However I just recently found out that it also started to affect on Visual Novel -genre as well.

For example, "How to Take Off Your Mask" which publisher is roseVerTe, has their limitations when it comes to Youtube streaming/sharing up until chapter 2 which you can show the game off on YouTube. Not only that but for example following games has also limitations:

    • eden* - permitted to upload and share video of any or all content featured in the free demo
    • fault milestone one is up to Chapter 4
    • Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~ - first 20% of a game
    • Higurashi When They Cry - Ch.1 Onikakushi - first 20% of a game
    • Love at First Sight - not allowed
    • NekoPara Vol 1 is up to Chapter 2
    • Princess Evangile - first 20% of a game
    • Sakura Angels is OK, but you will need to replace the music.
    • The Reject Demon: Toko Chapter 0 — Prelude - not allowed

Besides those, also MangaGamer and Sekai Project has their limitations. I myself love to especially play visual novels myself mostly. To me, these limitations are absurd but then again that's my opinion and everyone has theirs.

But what do YOU think overall with these gaming restrictions? What are your opinions about it?

I dont see the problem with uploading gameplay to youtube. If the game hasn't been released yet then far enough but if the game has been released worldwide then i dont see the problem. Its just basically free advertisement.

I agree with TheMortalGamer. If the game has been released into the wild then it should be fair game to upload or stream your own gameplay. Just because it is the same content as what others might be playing shouldn't matter. What should matter is how you play the game and you being able to share your experiences with your viewers.

One thing I noticed is that most of these titles you mentioned are from Japanese developers and publishers. Which says a lot about why you are going through this. Most, but not all Japanese publisher feel they own the rights to the games and are not as open about us sharing what they created. It's sort of like creating a painting and not showing it to anyone. How will others know about your talent if they never see it.

These are the difference between the West and East when it comes to sharing gameplays, also they don't see the benefits of free advertising...

I cannot count how many games I have bought because I watch someone else playing it.. Just look at my Steam account 200+ games and counting. AND I haven't even played half of them. Oh and I have a PS4 and plan to buy a Xbox One next year too. So yea gameplays help sell games..
