Game Review: Dust An Elysian Tail

So I wanted to touch down and remind everyone of this amazeballs game that I wound up beating not even a few weeks ago. If you have not played this game, I strongly encourage you too, and I know when the sequel comes out I will buy it!! This game is a 2D sidescroller masterpeice, created by Dean Dodrill and developed by Humble Hearts in 2012. It released for Xbox360, PC Steam, and PS4. Its a single player action rpg, beat em up metroidvania style game, with amazing artwork and a wonderful story. It reminds you that not all games are happy despite its cartoony appearance.

So in this game you are known as Dust, who recently "came into being" and has no memory of who he is or what his past held. Floating nearby is a sentient sword called The Sword of Ahrah, with its guardian Nimbat named Fidget. Dust has the inate ability to weild the sword so he teams up with the two to right the wrongs of the world, while also receiving backstory bit by bit who Dust actually was and what he did. This game reminds me that even cartoony looking games can be so sad.... I do not want to gove anything away so moving on. Fidget and Ahrah advise Dust on good deeds to do for the populus of Aurora because an evil General Gaius is ruining the land and enslaving people. In order to move on one must play a section and battle minions of Gaius in hordes that sometimes seem to overwhelm you if you are not careful. Anyway the player must defeat these foes to gain items, money, and level ups to upgrade both Dust and Fidgets abilities and skills in HEALTH, STRENGTH, DEFENSE, and MAGIC. The mechanics of battle are very interesting and in the midst of 30 minions u weild Ahrah and Fidget throws her magic - its a true beauty to behold!! Sometimes I got lost ina battle because it was just so intense. Esp the boss battles. As you play you unravel more of the story, and let me say wow.... Just freaking wow! Loved it and recommend 20/10!!!!
