OK guys so first of all I'm not making this thread so we can debate which one is better I have a serious question. why do pc gamers say mouse and keyboards at better more specifically for fps. I really want to know the science of it, I often hear people say it more precise without any way to back that statement up. so please some explain to me the actually science for this! thank you so much guys!!

The reason for mouse and keyboard being better in fps games spesifically is because it is more precicse.

The reason for this is because the mouse, first of all normally has a better refresh rate from what i have seen. Note that i said normally, it totally depends on the mouse you are using. Mouse's have a wide array of tools to use when it comes to moving it around on your mouse mat. It has lasers that track how fast, slow and far you go. There is also the optical mice, which actually uses light to move around, but more specifically it uses photodiodes to detect how you move your mouse around. Then there is ofc the old fashioned way, with the spinny wheel at the bottom of your mouse, it just spins around and detects where you are going and how fast you are going.

Now currently with my mouse atleast, i have all 3 of those factors applied. I use light, lasers and the spinny wheel (I do not know the name of the wheel mechanism).
But when it comes to controllers, all you have is your "Stick" that you can move around in a full circle. Sure it gives alot of opportunity for movement on a wider scale. But when it comes to fps, moving your stick in a quick but accurate fashion is normally harder than what it would be with a mouse.

There is also the thing where, with the mouse you are using your whole hand, with the controller you are using 1 or maybe 2 fingers. A whole hand has more control over a surface than 1 finger does. But that would also depend on the surface you apply. A smaller surface could of course be more beneficial to 1 finger than it would be for 1 hand, because it would be harder to grip.

So if you have any questions or have anything to say, please do :) I will be happy to answer ;)

Also i forgot to write about the keyboard. Just say if you want me to add that aswell, because when it comes to keyboard controllers are actually better in some ways (Multiple ways).

Thread slaughtered with one single reply :D

However, I'd like to hear how might controllers be better than keyboards? I mean I can imagine controllers being better than keyboards on some games but not in general.

Well since the controller is using a stick instead of 4 "keys" it does have alot more opportunity when it comes to movement. But it is worse for strafing and such, just as i said with aiming, it will have a longer turn time and move further.

There isnt too much to say about keyboard though. They will both act the same way generally only difference is that a controller can move in a 360 degree direction.

No auto aim is a big plus. Plus it's more precise, and you can move your crosshair faster.

Mouse and keyboard is best for Shooters, controllers are great for games like For Honor.

Even though this thread has already been answered several times already I think I should add my two cents in.

    Precision

In early 2012 Microsoft started a project in which PC gamers and Console gamers would play against each other in a tournament, and this ultimately ended up in the console gamers getting demolished. Gaming with a keyboard and mouse is just so easy, you can aim at smaller targets with such precision in half the time it would take for a controller to even be able to reach the target. Just fancy the thought of demolishing your enemy in every beautiful way possible. This is also why most of the teams who want to go professional play with keyboard and mouses instead of controllers, excluding teams like FaZe, OpTic, and Tk (which are just a few of the many teams who play on controllers).

    Keybinds and Hotkeys
Keybindings and hotkeys are another reasons the professionals, and anyone serious about gaming uses a keyboard and mouse. The ability to throw a spell at your enemy, in a click of a button, and win the game for your team is just a thought people are excited to have. You don't have to bind multiple keys with each other that often, you can have as many buttons as close as you need them too. For example, you can have the key bind to throwing your grenades as the middle click button or the G button to save you time in a sticky situation. This is another pro keyboards and mouses has over their inferior counterpart.

    Macros
Macros are another simple, and complex way keyboards outperform their counterpart. This is where you can bind multiple actions to one key much like a key bind/hotkey. The only real advantage to having a macro is in a really sticky situation such as you are pinned down in a corner, and need to throw a flashbang and grenade at the same time to protect yourself from getting wounded or even killed in that awesome firefight you're having in Insurgency. Most keyboards nowadays have macros implemented in them such as the M1, M2, and M3 keys on a Razer keyboard which I have previously owned and would recommend to all! So please macro safely!

I really hope this little guide I guess I made up has helped you in your journey through gaming. Remember if you need any help please contact me through PM's or directly through email at [email protected]

Pretty well covered already. It seemed so long that I didn't read. I already know why. Just in case these points weren't mentioned or were spelled out to lenghtily, here's what I have to say. Even an old mouse with a trackball is better. Add 3 buttons, and a scroll-wheel, not to mention maybe 11 buttons (in just 1 hand) and, well.... fughitabaddit. Some buttons can be assigned as shift keys. Add a keyboards ability to use shift, ctrl, and/or alt plus the rest of the buttons and you have about 3 gajillion other hot- keys

Only advantage of controller? You could lay back in your bed and play with the controller under a duvet a little easier.

It is honestly personal preference to be honest. I came from console and I have been on PC for about 2 years now and I'm Addicted. Their are some things that you can and cant do on controller as well as the keyboard.

    Nice.
Well, it depends for me. If the mouse is high quality and has a good sensitivity, I like it. And for a controller, I require smooth control sticks, not ones which get stuck very often. So basically, like others concluded, it's just personal preference.

    IMO, I think it is better and here's why;

With a mouse & Keyboard you can react to things much faster than you could with a Controller.
    Short and simple. Heh

It backs to your game that you are playing. There is no way to use mouse and keyboard for fighting games.
