I'd go for the GTX 960 4GB, because memory is one of the most important things.

And if possible go for the GTX 1060 6GB, its worth it!

It depends on your budget as well. How long can you wait before you're getting the upgrade?

No. This is factually wrong. The 1060 is a much better card. The 3GB 1060 Will outperform the 960 by miles, and the 6GB Card is not worth it unless your own 4K, inwhich case you shouldn't be on a 1060.

Infact, the 1060 will out perform my 980.

I would say the 1060 for being a better card.

    I used a 980 (4gb) and had a 970 (2gb) beforehand. The jump,was incredible between those two, but haven't tried the 960 below it.

Logic says that the 1060 be much better though... right

I can't help you with thos specifics. I can say that I just upgrade from GTX 960 2GB to a GTX 1070 8GB and I get at least 4 times the framerate on pretty much everything even after changing visual settings from mid-highish to max-ultra. Both cards are ASUS Strix.
