So I'm basically stuck in an endless circle here. I do various different videos on various different games. I'm thinking about shifting my focus to only one game, as I've seen loads of people get big from doing this. I know it's about preference blah blah blah. Someone I went to school with is big on youtube he only does Fifa videos. His name is 'GONTH' on YT. He's got big from doing fifa videos. I just feel as if I want to only focus on one game. Thoughts?

lol, try it for a month and see how it feels. Should be enough time for the analytical data to show whether or not it'll be good for the channel.

Like Spoony Said I would suggest giving it enough time to try it out, and see how it does from there!

It is a good thing to have some variety on your channel but it is better to first complete one series for a game before moving on. I did the same where i made a wide variety of content and uploaded daily. Afterwards i shifted focus to max 3 games, one MMO, one Singelplayer and one multiplayer. Since then i have been growing steady :)

I know this is an old thread, but I just saw it and figured I'd lend my own thoughts.

It is often a good idea to focus your channel on one game- that'll get you somewhere fast- but there are a few things you NEED to be aware of.
    1. It has to be the right game.
A game like Hearthstone, or Call of Duty, or Overwatch, or Minecraft. I wouldn't pick Minecraft, but you get my point- something that's HUGELY popular and has insane replayability. Rocket League, FIFA- those types of games can be played endlessly on repeat. Multiplayer games seem to be the huge hit- anything where you're playing against real people real time is something you can focus on.
    1. You will get stuck playing that game forever if you want to remain popular.
Whatever game you choose, once you start focusing solely on that game, that's it. There's no going back. If you ever try to upload anything else, your views will tank, your subs will fall, and your analytics will explode, if it's nothing even remotely similar to your one game. This is the draw to focusing on one game, and why I continue to upload variety despite my slowly growing channel. There's a pro and a con to every decision- variety makes you grow slowly and your view counts stay low. Focusing gets you high view counts- often higher than your sub count- and keeps you popular.
    1. High Editing
With games like those, no one wants to watch fullplays. That's ridiculous, who watches a 432 episode series on 10 minute, unedited playthroughs of FIFA? You'll be doing montage-style videos, which means recording and playing for 3 hours and uploading a 5 minute video. Just how it goes.

None of these things are bad in any way- just people aren't usually prepared for this. In order to get up there with other channels of similar content, you'll need to go all out with your content.
