Many factors cause a channel to gain subs/views quicker.Type of content, how much content they upload, the content itself, how much they've been getting themsevles known with social media etc. If they had help getting started, to name a few. it's different from channel to channel. There's no one right way of doing Youtube.

Upload at least once, optimally twice or three times a week at the same time on the same days (by scheduling videos ahead of time).

Tweet at people more often, about different stuff. Making friends on twitter helps a lot. I'd do playlists of different games to attract different audiences, then see what your subscribers prefer or more importantly what you want to play, and go from there. Maybe upload different games on the different days like I said.

Uploading more frequently will definitely help you grow. You have a better chance of your videos getting viewed or recommended to other people by Youtube.

Regarding growing on youtube is handled by different factors.

Main thing is that you need a good banner and thumbnails on your video's, besides that make a on-point title and make sure your description contains at least 200 words for ideal ranking.

The next step in this process is the promotion of your content trough social media like G+, Twitter, Facebook and even instagram can provide help in this.

This. Networking is very important. Any way that you can engage and interact with your audience will help you build a fun environment that they'll want to keep coming back to.

Outside of networking, be consistent and upload frequently. It's easy to get discouraged at slow growth and want to upload less often, but you have to grind through this and continue to be consistent.

Like mentioned above, high quality graphics are super important, too. These are what will capture a viewer's attention, so you want to make sure they're optimized to do just that.

This is just my two cents but, I don't have alot of subscribers myself. Make sure you have high quality videos, thumbnails that stand out, good high quality graphics for your channel. Network with people, use social media like Facebook and Twitter. I've been doing it and it gets me a fair views and subs etc. Even use reddit, or other forums that have youtube sub sections on the forum.
