In addition to my other post, gaming channels might be in trouble, depending on how you run it and what you upload. If you're uploading gameplay footage of games like "Grand Theft Auto", "Dead or Alive", and/or "Saints Row", it seems that those videos might "offend" people and now YouTube is going to censor it or remove monetization from all videos that now are considered in violation of their Terms of Service Updates.

Is YouTube now a "Safe Place"?

Do we have to heavily censor our videos now?

    I'm worried....

Well the majority of gaming channels swear so then there goes most of YouTube If they're going to start shutting down channels over something so petty as swearing

If they did such thing then there will be alot of gaming channels wich will stop leading to a massive drop for youtube.

Nowadays everyone does gaming so i don't think there is much to worry and if they choose to do this option then so be it XD

Let's just hope that it doesn't happen.

I don't think anything like that will happen. Yes, they are trying to make YouTube safe, but it's popular for those games to be viewed on YouTube.

I'm assuming that things will be alright for the community that swears. YouTube will not remove the high-subscriber count people because it will impact their revenue by a large margin.

Just to play devil's advocate, what if that is exactly what they want (to lose revenue)? YouTube isn't profitable, yet. So what if Google/Alphabet has decided to unload it but can't justify that to their stockholders. If they institute a policy that forces them to shut down super channels and show a major loss then they could essentially justify selling off YouTube. Just a thought ;)

There is so much going on behind the scenes, hah. I wish I could listen in to what is happening with YouTube in general.

It is not direct Censorship, more like censorship through disincentive. So you can be as raunchy as you like (within ToS) if you don't mind not being paid directly, but then if you have built up your channel to the point that patreon or merchandise sales can support you then great. And yes YT, and Facebook, and Twitter all signed on to an EU policy that essentially makes them "safe spaces." Life sucks get a helmet! #overcome

I dont think that it will really effect many channels besides the ones that are extremely vulgar, ya know? Most GTA videos and such are not that bad overall. Ya know?

I'm not too overly concerned about this just yet. Thing is that no matter what you post, someone is going to not like it or be offended in this day and age. Even if you say "I don't care for this game for XYZ reasons."

When it happens, then I'll consider my options. But with Twitch adding the option to upload videos to your channel, it looks like Amazon/Twitch is going after Youtube with an effective alternative. And given that my YT sub count is 194 and my Twitch sub count with nearly nothing there is over 500, I know what I'd be doing.

I may start uploading my YT stuff there anyway to see what happens.

I highly doubt YouTube will make people censor their videos just because it might offend people. If they do though, I'm pretty sure another site will come along where people won't have to censor themselves and take all the traffic away from YouTube. But like I said, I highly doubt YouTube will do this because they would just be screwing themselves over in the end.
